Forensic Vet was established in the UK in 2009 and continues to grow under the tutelage of Forensic Veterinary Surgeon-David Bailey (pictured).
PROFILE: DAVID BAILEY, MRCVS
A qualified veterinary surgeon with 20 years’ experience working both as a private vet and in governmental roles, and has been a member of RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) since 1996. Qualified with a MSc. Forensic Science from Staffordshire University in 2009. Founder and course director of the first recognized postgraduate teaching qualification in Veterinary Forensics and Law in the UK, which since 2015 has been exported, under David’s guidance, to deliver post graduate training to veterinary surgeons in Brazil. An experienced expert witness, working for defence or prosecution, providing advice, veterinary reports, joint expert reports and attending court in UK. An Honorary Research Fellow at Staffordshire University and has been appointed to the board of the Ulster Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA). External Clinical Director of the USPCA Animal Hospital. Currently writing a book on Practical Veterinary Forensics due for release in 2015.
Forensic Vet was created to fulfil a need for a standardized approach to legal disputes involving experts, evidence and animals.

Forensic Vet places an emphasis on practical veterinary forensics delivered through teaching, research, and an understanding of the law as it applies to animals and animal derivatives, combined with our two particular selling points:
- A higher level of understanding of the application of evidence required in these disputes.
- An enhanced capability to evaluate evidence in these disputes.
